Susan Wishart Russell Feix, 75, of Cynthiana, wife of the late Charles William “Charley” Feix, died Sunday, February 18, 2024 at her residence.
Born August 15, 1948 in Cynthiana to the late Floyd L. & Jean Campbell Russell, she graduated from Transylvania University in 1970, where she was a proud member of the Chi Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity. Susan later attended Georgetown College where she completed her Master’s Degree, and received her Rank One from the University of Kentucky. She began her teaching career at Little Picadome in Lexington, and then taught at Eastside Elementary School in Cynthiana for several years before staying home for thirteen years with her three children. In 1987 she returned to teaching and taught 6th grade at the Harrison County Middle School for 27 years where she created a reading system known as the Newbury Panel. Susan worked closely with the University of Kentucky in cultivating this program. She was a dedicated member of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, having served as an elder, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are two sons, Sam W. Arnold, IV, and John Russell (Crystle) Arnold, Sr.; a daughter, Anne Wishart (Roland) Arnold-Ratliff; four grandchildren, Catron Arleane Arnold, Campbell Anne Arnold, John Russell Arnold, Jr. and George William Nash Arnold; a dear friend, Michelle Ortiz, as well as the Families of Mary Ware Feix Bradford and Beth Feix.
Casketbearers will be Steve Chasteen, Dr. Jim Clyde, Camron Faulkner, Mitchell Judy, Scott McCauley, Bob Ruth, Jared Thomas and Jimmy Wilson.
Honorary bearer is Raymond Works.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 24th at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Greg Kupar and Dr. Greg Cooper with church doors opening at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be sent to Bluegrass Hospice Care, Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, Scott County Humane Society-“For Pets’ Sake,” or the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter.
